The
line.

  • Storm calls.
  • Weeks away.
  • Work high and hot.
  • Overtime that comes and goes.

The
reason.

  • The house.
  • Your partner.
  • Your kids.
  • The life you have built.

Mutual aid, call-outs, and contractor line work can make a year look nothing like the wage a group benefit used. Indexed universal life is one contract linemen compare with whatever the utility or the contractor already provides.

Indexed universal life (IUL) is permanent life insurance. Interest credited to the cash value can be linked to a market index, with caps, floors, and charges set by the carrier. It is not an investment. A licensed agent explains cash value, costs, and limits. Underwriting varies by job and by carrier. A hazardous job is not a promise of coverage.

What the storm check hides

  • A utility plan and a contractor plan that do not follow you across employers
  • Overtime a group benefit may calculate from a smaller base wage
  • Out-of-state mutual aid while someone else runs the house
  • A beneficiary form the family has never seen

Line and utility questions

I am a contractor lineman, not a utility employee. Same benefits?
Usually no. A utility package and a line contractor's benefits are written by different employers. Describe which one signs your check.
Does storm travel change the application?
It can. Carriers may ask where you work and how often you travel. The answer is about your year, not a slogan about storm season.
We bought the house on storm wages. What number is honest?
Use a year without that overtime as the stress test. An agent can set that next to the certificate you already have, if you have one.
